There are various kinds of teething jewellery, including products made using Baltic amber, and each is intended to help relieve the pain of teething in infants and toddlers. The items designed and sold by How I Adorn Thee are a combination of the chewable products and stylish jewellery to complement your many different looks.
We have chosen to use silicone beads rather than rubber or some other synthetic material because of the safety and durability of the silicone used in these products. As you can see on our Safety page (information comes from our supplier), the silicone beads and rings are non-toxic and made of 100% food grade silicone. They are BPA free, as well as free of lead, cadmium, PVC, mercury and phthalates. They are also FDA, LFGB, and SGS approved.
As we describe elsewhere, the individual components of this teething jewellery are completely baby safe. The clasps are designed to break apart easily if baby pulls too hard. For hygiene reasons, our jewellery is only sold new. How I Adorn Thee jewellery is not a toy and, therefore, children should always be supervised while chewing it. If any part of this product becomes broken or damaged, discontinue use immediately. Teething jewellery contains small parts that have been assembled into the products you see on this site and could pose a choking hazard if used incorrectly. Our silicone beads and rings are non-toxic as are our natural wood beads and rings. A comprehensive list of safety notes are available on our Safety page.
We'll call this question, WAATSA! 🙂 But it's a fair question, and here is your answer.

As stated in our Terms & Conditions, we can not emphasize enough how important it is that our teething products must be used under adult supervision only. If you notice any damage to these products, discontinue their use immediately. These products could carry a chocking hazard and must be used with caution. All products are designed with safety in mind, but we can not guarantee that they are free from defects or design flaws that might compromise their safety.
We do guarantee workmanship and materials for 30 days from purchase. Please contact us during this time should you notice defects in the materials or damage arising out of normal use.
It couldn't be more simple! Just wash with mild soap and water, and hang to dry. We do recommend washing the jewellery prior to first use.
Some of our natural wood products are already treated, but untreated rings/beads can be conditioned with organic oils (such as olive, avocado, or grape seed) and beeswax to preserve and resist splintering.
The theory behind amber teething jewellery is that a baby's body heat triggers the release of a small amounts of oil from the amber containing succinic acid, which is also a naturally-occurring substance in the body. When the oil is absorbed, it is said to relieve the pain of sore gums caused by teething.
The teething jewellery from How I Adorn Thee is meant to be chewed, much like a teething ring or toy, and does not provide any chemical pain relief. If you've seen your teething baby gnawing on anything within reach, including your own expensive jewellery when they can get their hands on it, then you understand the purpose of our silicone and natural wood products!
Orders and Payment
All of our prices are listed in Canadian dollars and payments are also processed in Canadian currency. For customers in the USA, this means that the prices you see only look higher than you will actually be paying in US dollars. You're saving about 30% after conversion, so it's like everything is on sale! Take advantage and buy an extra necklace for a friend. 🙂
We've recently added a plugin to the site that does a rough calculation based on recently downloaded exchange rates and should display an approximate price in US dollars below the Canadian price (if it is able to detect your location). This is an approximate price only. PayPal will convert your Canadian dollar checkout cart to whatever is your local or default currency; but, you can use this approximate US dollar price as a rough guess while you're shopping.
Our website allows you to pay using PayPal or cash on local delivery or pickup. Other forms of payment are possible (such as Interac e-Transfer, Western Union, etc.) but you should contact us prior to ordering to make this arrangement.
When you choose PayPal as your payment option, you will have the choice to use a credit card or to use your default PayPal payment method.
It is not necessary to have a PayPal account to make an online payment. In order to use your credit card to purchase from our shop, choose PayPal as your payment method and then follow the instructions on the subsequent PayPal pages. If you prefer to use cash and are local to the Hamilton area, you may choose Cash on local Delivery/Pickup, and then make arrangements with us to receive your order.
We use PayPal for online payment processing. When you check out from the store, you will be redirected to a secure PayPal page where your credit card and/or PayPal account details will be encrypted throughout your online session, after which you will be returned to the How I Adorn Thee website.
Absolutely! We ship all over the world. Once you've entered your address on the checkout page, you'll see the U.S. or international shipping costs per item.
Shipping and Returns
To save you money we ship via Canada Post as non-standard letter mail, rather than sending items as parcels. If you wish to have tracking or insurance on your order, this can be done; but, you'll need to contact us prior to ordering for a shipping quote.
Another option – for orders shipped within Canada – is to have it sent as registered mail for an additional $9, which might be a more affordable option than shipping as a parcel with tracking (this really depends on the weight and destination of the order). Registered mail to destinations outside of Canada must be sent as ExpressPost-USA or include an Advice of Receipt card purchased from Canada Post.
Contact us for more information if you wish to pursue these or any other options. We want to make sure that you get your order as quickly, safely, and inexpensively as possible. We just need to be sure to cover the shipping costs.
To keep prices as low as possible, our shipping options are flat rate per item – the specific rate depending on the country to which the order is being shipped. Other options can be arranged, but you need to contact us prior to placing your order to make alternative arrangements. Flat rate pricing per item is as follows:
Within Canada - $3.50
To the United States - $7.00
Internationally - $11.00
You most certainly can. Choose Local Pickup (Hamilton, ON) as your shipping option when you check out, and we will contact you to arrange pickup.
It may be possible to deliver your order, depending on your location. Generally, local delivery is for bulk orders to retail distributors; but, in exceptional cases we may be able to bring it to you. Contact us prior to ordering to discuss your situation.
Our shipping rates assume only one or two items being ordered at a time. If you are ordering more than this, contact us prior to placing your order and we'll look at the options available.
For reasons of health and safety, all sales are final. See our Terms & Conditions for the extended policy and exceptions. In short, we do guarantee materials and workmanship for 30 days. If you notice defects during this period, please contact us to discuss a return for repair, replacement or refund.
We would love to discuss this with you. Wholesale pricing is available to stores that are willing to make a commitment to an ongoing retail distribution partnership. If you have a booth at local trade shows or festivals, we'd also enjoy to explore options to have our jewellery included in your display. We are pleased to highlight our retail distribution partners on our Retailers page.
At this point, we are leaving this to our retail partners who are already familiar faces at local trade shows and festivals. If you are interested in selling our jewellery at your own booth, contact us for more information on our wholesaling arrangements with retail partners.
At this time our focus is the teething jewellery. Nothing is set in stone and there may be a time when the wire jewellery becomes available. Sign up for our mailing list (when you register for the site or purchase an item) to receive a variety of product announcements; and, keep coming back to the website, as these will be the places that we would announce a new initiative, such as a new style or line.
First and foremost we are focused on creating the styles advertised in the online store, but will always consider reasonable requests. So please don't hesitate to be in touch with your ideas for a custom piece.
